Absolute Cross Sections for Production of Prompt NuclearγRays by Fast Pions

Abstract

Cross sections have been measured for the production of prompt nuclear $\gamma$ rays in the pion bombardment of Al, Ca, V, and ${}_{}{}^{60}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ni}$. Several disagreements with values in the literature are noted.
