Preparation of thin glass films for electron microscopic examination by direct transmission

Abstract

A chemical method has been developed whereby uniform thin films of glass can be prepared suitable for examination by transmission electron microscopy. The technique is applicable to samples of glass initially of the order of 100-200 μm in thickness such as might be obtained, for example, by blowing a thin film.
