Abstract
We develop a statistical theory of the amplitude of Coulomb blockade oscillations in semiconductor quantum dots based on the hypothesis that chaotic dynamics in the dot potential leads to behavior described by random-matrix theory. Breaking time-reversal symmetry is predicted to cause an experimentally observable change in the distribution of amplitudes. The theory is tested numerically and good agreement is found. Keywords
