Distribution of 5-Fluorouracil-2-14 C and Its Metabolites in a Murine Glioma2

Abstract
The uptake and distribution of 5-fluorouracil-2-14C (FU) and its metabolites were determined in normal brain and an intracerebral glioma of C57BL/6 mice during maintenance of a steady-state concentration of FU in plasma. After 1 hour, FU reached a concentration in tumor approximately 11 times that in normal brain. 5-Fluoro-2′-deoxyuridine-5′-monophesphate (FdUMP), believed to be the chemotherapeutically active metabolite, was identified in intracerebral tumor.
