A Facile Preparation of 2',3'-Unsaturated Nucleosides and Hexopyranosides from Acetylated Halohydrins by Reductive Elimination.

Abstract
Reductive eliminations by treatment of acetylated halohydrins with Zn powder in ethanol containing acetic acid are described. The examples include a purine, a pyrimidine and a disaccharide derivative. The procedure allows facile access to 2,3-dideoxy-2-enoside derivatives.
