The Phytosterols from Acacia species: α-Spinasterol and Stigmast-7-enol

Abstract
The heartwoods of eight Acacia species have been shown to contain stigmast-7-enol and α-spinasterol, which thus appear to be characteristic constituents of the genus. Several species also contained 5α-stigmastanol, β-sitosterol, and stigmasterol, and these were removed by preliminary fractional crystallizations of the acetates.
