Weak Raman bands and the reduced spectrum from vitreous BeF2

Abstract
Raman and infrared spectra have been obtained from vitreous BeF2. The sensitivity of the measurements allowed weak features to be seen in the spectra, in addition to bands arising from the main glass structure. The weak features are throught to arise from LO–TO splittings, two‐phonon interactions, defects, and the impurities OH and BeO. Features in the reduced Raman spectrum agree well with inelastic neutron scattering data.
