Abstract
Sound absorption and velocity measurements have been made in pure SO2 and mixtures of 25% and 50% Ar with SO2 at room temperature, 400°, and 500°K. The results confirm earlier reports of a multiple relaxation process. The data have been fit with both series and parallel relaxation curves and the temperature dependence of the individual relaxation times determined. The difficulty in distinguishing between the two processes is discussed. Keywords
