Abstract
A method for extraction of hormone from acetone powders of the parathyroid gland by the use of acetic acid is described. The extracts thus obtained were fractionated by precipitation with acetone and then subjected to ultrafiltration through cellophane. Assays based on the ability of the ultrafiltrate to stimulate the excretion of urinary phosphate in mice show that a 4- to 5-fold purification is achieved in the ultrafiltration step. Preliminary ultra-centrifugal and electrophoretic examination of this material shows it to consist of more than one molecular species. Keywords
