Thrombin and acetylated thrombin in the activation of fibrinolysis

Abstract
Thrombin that has been acetylated on its free amino group loses its fibrinogen-clotting properties, but when injected intravenously produces a fibrinolytic syndrome. The lytic results compare very closely to those obtained with thrombin administration, but acetylated thrombin does not produce fibrin deposition. In spite of the difference a common mechanism is suggested.
