Intravenous Carbohydrate Tolerance Tests on Swine

Abstract
Results of 17 intravenous carbohydrate tolerance tests made after giving test doses of 0.75 g. of glucose/kg. of body wt. to normal fasted pigs averaging 11.4 kg. in body wt. indicated that the tolerance curve of swine closely parallels that of humans. Tests involving oral administration in 20 healthy weanling pigs suggested that this is an unsatisfactory procedure for measuring carbohydrate tolerance in this sp.
