Abstract
He tibial plateau. The cruciate ligaments stabilize but do not control this rotatory motion. Eleven knees were tested in a special jig to determine the location of the longitudinal axis of rotation and the role of the cruciate ligaments in controlling transverse rotation. It was found that the tibia rotates on the femur about an axis passing through the medial intercondylar tubercle of the tibial plateau.
