Evidence for the Existence of the HypernucleusLi6Λ

Abstract

An event has been observed in nuclear emulsion which is attributed to the decay of a ${}_{\Lambda }{}^{}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Li}_{}^6{}_{}{}^{}$ hypernucleus, ${}_{\Lambda }{}^{}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Li}_{}^6{}_{}{}^{}\to {\pi }^{-}+p+p+{\mathrm{He}}^4$, with a total binding energy of $B=3.92\mathrm{}\pm 0.37$ MeV relative to the free-particle system $\overline{\Lambda }+p+{\mathrm{He}}^4$.
