Abstract
Decaborane (B10H14) has been used to characterize a Melpar Flame Photometric-Gas Chromatographic system as a sensitive and specific boron hydride detection system. Flame emission at 546 nm was used to define optimum oxygen, hydrogen, and air flow rates. A lower detection limit of 0.71 ng B10H14, as eluted from a 3% OV-1 Chromosorb W 80/100 mesh column, was obtained. Response is linear for greater than one order of magnitude from the lower limit of detectability.
