A STANDARD GERMINATION TEST FOR DOUGLAS FIR SEED

Abstract

Seed of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga taxifolia (Lamb.) Britt.) is often difficult to test for germination capacity. Complete and rapid germination can be obtained from seed which has been stratified for six to ten weeks in moist sand at a temperature just above the freezing point. This method is suggested as a standard technique for testing Douglas fir seed.
