Abstract
The blood volume during diuresis was studied in dogs. The animals were rendered edematous by plasmapheresis and salyrgan was used to effect a brisk diuresis. The detns of plasma volume were based on multiple blood samples withdrawn after the injection of the colloidal blue dye T-1824. A spectrophotometer was used to determine the dye concns. in plasma and serum samples. Although the tissues exhibited intense vital staining, no dye accumulated in the edema fluids. A dilution effect of the red cell and dye concns. was observed in successive blood samples with the animal in a resting state. A brisk diuresis was found to be associated with a diminishing blood volume. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
