Distortion of the Electric Field in an Ionization Chamber due to a Difference in Potential between Guard Ring and Collector

Abstract

Change in the electric field pattern in an ionization chamber arising from small differences in potential between guard ring and collecting electrode is studied. It is shown that the resulting field distortion may cause appreciable changes in the active volume of the chamber.
