Ex Vivo Renal Artery Reconstruction Using Perfusion Preservation

Abstract
A series of 22 cases of ex vivo renal artery reconstruction using continuous perfusion preservation is reviewed. All patients had extensive renal vascular lesions considered inoperable by standard in situ techniques. Replacement of the diseased segments of the renal artery and its branches was accomplished using arterial autografts in all cases. Definite operative advantages accrued from the use of continuous perfusion preservation. No instance of postoperative acute tubular necrosis occurred in the series. All patients are normotensive postoperatively, with a mean followup of 1.9 yr.
