An explicit formula for the calculation of fractional parentage coefficients

Abstract

An explicit formula is found for the calculation of fractional parentage coefficients for a set of particles in equivalent states vector-coupled in the many-body problem with either j-j or L-S coupling. The formula is derived without the use of group theory, but in the actual computation it is found convenient to introduce the group theoretical classification. Some examples of the application of the formula are given.
