Infrared Spectrum of Bromine Pentafluoride

Abstract
The infrared spectrum of bromine pentafluoride has been observed in the region 4000–215 cm—1 with a resolution of 0.5–1.0 cm—1. All infrared‐active fundamentals have been observed; these occur at 684, 584, and 370 cm—1 (A1) and 644, 415, and 245 cm—1 (E). The spectrum confirms the C4v (square pyramidal) structure. Corrections are given for the previously reported thermodynamic functions.
