Modifying Actions of Procaine on the Myoneural Blocking Actions of Succinylcholine, Decamethonium and d-Tubocurarine in Dogs and Cats

Abstract
Procaine alone in 4-64-mg./kg. doses had no effect on myoneural transmission. In 16-mg./kg. doses injected before or after 0.15 mg./kg. of d-tubocurarine, it intensified the neuromuscular blockade. Procaine in the same dose intensified the myoneural effect of succinylcholine or decamethonium if injected after the admn. of these relaxants. When the injn. of procaine preceded the admn. of succinylcholine or decamethonium it antagonized their myoneural action.
