ELIMINATION OF SODIUM IN PANCREATIC JUICE AS MEASURED BY RADIOACTIVE SODIUM

Abstract
The excretion of Na by the pancreas was investigated in dogs provided with pancreatic fistulae, with the aid of the radioactive isotope of Na. Labeled Na made its appearance in samples of pancreatic juice obtained as early as the first 3 mins. after the intraven. inj. of the radioactive salt. Maximum concs. were found within 15 mins. Except in the early petipds, the concs. of labeled Na in the pancreatic juice closely followed those observed in the serum.
