Abstract
A soln. of fibrinogen in 0.9% NaCl was adjusted to contain 10 mg. fibrinogen/ml. One ml. of this was added to 1 ml. of thrombin (various concs.) to produce mixing. After 10 mins. the fibrin was removed and the remaining thrombin measured quantitatively. In one expt. 10 mg. fibrin removed 750 units of thrombin from a soln. containing 3750 units. Assuming 1400 units/mg. dry wt. for specific activity of thrombin, it was calculated in terms of wt. that 10 mg. fibrin removed 0.53 mg. thrombin. The data support the view that thrombin is removed by adsorption. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
