Abstract
The practice of induced abortion dates back to the origin of the human race. Over the years many varied procedures have been employed by the medical profession and lay person to achieve abortion. Mechanical methods have been popular with both these groups, and a large number of chemical compounds and plant extracts have been tried, with varying success. Few laboratory or reliable clinical studies have been carried out on systemic abortifacients, and medical science has not produced a drug that will effectively and safely terminate an unwanted pregnancy. There is no doubt that such a drug would have exceptional value . . .Keywords
