Why do so many children have trouble computing in mathematics? There are undoubtedly many reasons; some simple, some complex. It seemed to us that one important aspect of a teacher's job is to determine how a child goes about getting the wrong answer. Careful examination of the kinds of errors made may reveal patterns that are quite logical to a child, if not to us.
