Plague controlled in Haifa by the use of DDT alone

Abstract

An intensive campaign against the rat flea through the use of DDT[long dash]both as a spray and as a dusting powder[long dash]enabled the authorities to suppress an epidemic of plague with dramatic suddenness. Streptomycin and sulfadiazine therapy gave a high percent of cures among those cases that did develop.
