Abstract
Mouse pneu-monitis and meningopneumonitis viruses purified from the allantoic fluid of infected chick embryos actively synthesized citrovorum factor and other forms of folic acid when incubated at 37[degree]C. Uninfected allantoic fluid and choriorallantoic membrane showed no increase in folic acid under the same conditions. Several lines of evidence indicated that citrovorum factor was synthesized by enzymes which were specific constituents of the virus particles.
