TERMINAL CEREBROSPINAL FLUID PRESSURE VALUES IN VITAMIN A DEFICIENCY

Abstract
When young bovine were placed on a vit. A deficient ration, the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid increased above normal. The increased pressure was accompanied by papilledema, syncope and incoordination. In order to determine the maximum pressures which develop, young bovines were permitted to proceed to the terminal stage of vit. A deficiency. Terminal pressures of 400 to 600 mm. of saline were recorded. The possible causes of the increased pressure were discussed.
