Abstract
The ultraviolet transmission of four hydrocarbons, n‐heptane, isopentane, 3‐methylpentane, and methylcyclohexane, are shown at various stages of purification. The particular advantages of each as a solvent in far ultraviolet spectroscopy is discussed with emphasis on the remarkable transmission of isopentane when purified. Keywords
