A Monochromator Using a Large Water Prism

Abstract
An inexpensive monochromator, capable of giving high intensity in the near ultraviolet, is described. Its distinguishing feature is a large water prism with quartz sides. This prism has an internal reflection so that the beam always comes through it at minimum deviation, and gives straight undistorted spectral lines at the exit slit.
