Four total-rock samples of the Valley Spring Gneiss give a Rb-Sr isochron age of 1120±25 million years and an initial Sr87/Sr86 ratio of 0.706±0.002. This age is significantly older than the 1,000–1,050 and 920±20 million year dates previously determined for the igneous rocks of the Llano Uplift.
