Abstract
Using the method of thermal etching the measurements were carried out of the relative values of coherent twin boundary free energy y T and surface free energy y s for silver, copper, nickel, gamma-iron, cobalt, two copper-aluminium alloys, eight nickel-cobalt alloys and one iron—nickel alloy. By means of data on y s found in the literature free energies of coherent twin boundaries were calculated for silver, copper, nickel, gamma-iron and iron-35 at. % nickel alloy.
