Abstract
The combined oral admn. of Ca lactate and aluminum hydroxide gel produced a marked and sustained elevation of serum bicarbonate in young infants with physiologically low kidney function and in older subjects with impaired function. This effect did not occur in subjects with normal kidney function. Given separately, neither drug produced an increase in serum bicarbonate in subjects with normal or reduced kidney function. Keywords
