Abstract
A method of immunization of guinea pigs with dinitrophenyl-bovine γ-globulin or egg albumin in complete Freund's adjuvant is described, which resulted in a very strong and fast antibody production. As a consequence of the immunization, important changes were observed in the serum immunoglobulin levels. γ2-Globulin increased 50 to 100%, and γ1-globulin increased 10 to 50 times. Only part of the increase could be attributed to the production of specific antibody. Animals immunized with adjuvant alone showed only moderate increases in the concentration of serum 7 S γ-globulin.
