Abstract
Summary The occurrence of different antibodies and serological factors has been investigated in various diseases often accompanied by hypergammaglobulinemia. Increased anticomplement titer, antistreptolysin titer, sensitised sheep erythrocyte agglutination, and antistaphylolysin titer may be more or less pronounced, whereas other common antibodies do not show an increase. Non-specific Wassermann reactions do, however, occur in the rheumatoid arthritis group. In myelomatosis no antibody response is usually found. This is certainly related to the fact that the gamma fraction is quite narrow. The four serological reactions named above may show a more or less increased titer in the groups with purpura hyperglobulinemica, polyarteritis nodosa, myositides, cirrhosis of the liver, lupus erythematodes diss., and rheumatoid arthritis.
