A Test for Red Cell Production

Abstract

This simple method utilizes and especially designed multiple post scintillation counter whereby in vivo Fe59 activity can be estimated at 4 points simultaneously. Studies of rats and normal human subjects under various conditions known to affect production of red cells by bone marrow are presented as evidence of validity of the method. The possible clinical applications are briefly discussed.
