Abstract
An "isomer-shift—electronic-configuration" diagram is proposed for metallic compounds of iron, formed by theoretical charge density of Wakoh and Yamashita and Danon's scale. On the basis of this diagram, we show, in disagreement with previous interpretations of Mössbauer data based on the Walker et al. diagram, that the small dispersion of values, observed for several metallic compounds of iron, does not necessarily mean that the number of electrons is nearly constant.
