Calculation of Chandrasekhar's X- and Y-functions for Isotropic Scattering

Abstract
Numerical tables are given of the X - and Y -functions for values of τ greater than unity, extending the range of the tables previously published by Chandrasekhar. The method used is a combination of the numerical solution of the auxiliary equation for J ( τ, µ ) with an improvement on the iterative process used by Chandrasekhar. Tables are also given for the conservative case, differing from the standard solutions previously defined.
