Abstract
The hexokinase method and a method using glucose dehydrogenase are compared. In general, the 2 methods show good agreement. The samples, obtained from fasting patients, were not deproteinized. The possible influence of anticoagulants, preservatives and Hb on the determination of glucose with glucose dehydrogenase was investigated; there was no evidence of interference. Among the carbohydrates tested, only 2-deoxyglucose gave a positive reaction. The multiplication factor for the photometric analysis remains stable for 7 days with a linearity between 0.55-44.4 mmol/l glucose.
