CLINICAL STUDIES ON THE VELOCITY OF BLOOD FLOW

Abstract
''(IX). Measurements of the velocity of active deposit of radium injected into an antecubital vein of the right arm and detected on its arrival at the right heart, and later at the antecubital arteries of the left arm. Venous pressures were also recorded. The relationship of the findings to the clinical picture is discussed. Elaborate case histories are given. The velocity of blood flow parallels, in general, the degree of circulatory competence. (X). A statistical study of data obtained by the methods employed in the preceding paper. If the pulmonary circulation time is above the average normal the probability (of cardiovascular disease is roughly 2 to 1; if vital capacity is below average normal this probability is roughly 2 to 1; if both measurements are abnormal the probability is 4 to 1; if in addition the venous pressure is increased the probability is 8 to 1.
