Hypoglycemia and Polycythemia Associated with Primary Hepatoma

Abstract

HYPOGLYCEMIA associated with hepatic carcinoma was described by Nadler and Wolfer¹ over thirty years ago. In 1958 McFadzean, Todd and Tsang² reported polycythemia in association with hepatoma. To our knowledge the case of hepatoma presented below is the first associated with both hypoglycemia and elevated red-cell and plasma volumes to be reported.Case ReportA 27-year-old Puerto Rican man was admitted to the Hartford Municipal Hospital on January 11, 1960, complaining of anorexia and diarrhea.
