Abstract
Preoperative astigmatism may be reversed or eliminated by the Troutman corneal wedge resection.1 The effect of compensating compression sutures in corneal wedge resections is evaluated. Thirteen phakic patients with an average astigmatism of 10.6 diopters underwent corneal wedge resection combined with compensating compression sutures. "Sutures-in" astigmatism at one to three months averaged 3.2 diopters; four to six months the average was 1.5 diopters. Keywords
