Abstract
The addition of bile acids in vitro was found to influence the activity of rat liver glucose-6-phosphatase preparations, concentrations of 5 x 10-4 [image] inactivating and 1 x 10-3 [image] activating the enzyme. Possible modes of action are discussed. Since bile acids activated glucose-6-phosphatase from diabetic rat liver as well as normal liver, it was concluded that the increased glucose-6-phosphatase activity of diabetic rat liver was not due to the presence of bile acids, but rather due to an actual increase in the amount of enzyme. Keywords
