The value of carcinoembryonic antigen in differentiating sclerosing epithelial hamartoma from syringoma

Abstract
Four cases of sclerosing epithelial hamartoma were examined for the presence of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) by the unlabeled antibody peroxidase-antiperoxidase method but could not detect CEA in these lesions. Because syringomas contain CEA, the detection of this antigen is a useful marker for differentiating sclerosing epithelial hamartomas form syringomas.
