Abstract
Average projected recoil ranges in the forward, backward, and perpendicular direction to the beam have been measured for a number of palladium and silver products formed in the interaction of silver and indium with 200- and 400-MeV protons. The values of the forward and perpendicular ranges increase with the mass difference between target and product and the dependence becomes exponential for . The results have been compared with a Monte Carlo cascade-evaporation calculation based on the Vegas cascade code. The calculation included a correction for scattering effects. It is found that the calculated values are in moderately good agreement with the measured values of the forward and perpendicular ranges, but underestimate the values of the backward range.
