Complete fusion mechanism in theO16+Cu63reaction

Abstract
Absolute values of the cross sections for most evaporation channels consecutive to the complete O16 + Cu63 fusion have been measured for incident O16 energies ranging between 40 and 85 MeV, through the observation of the corresponding γ activities. They give evidence for a limitation in the contributing incident partial waves for energies above 50 MeV. The excitation functions of the various evaporation channels are satisfactorily accounted for, in shape and magnitude, by statistical evaporation calculations. They allow a very precise determination of the variation of the critical angular momentum with the excitation energy of the compound nucleus.
