Abstract
A method is described for measuring instantaneous pulmonary capillary blood flow in man by N2O uptake without the use of the body plethysmograph. The method gives reproducible measurements of stroke volume and cardiac output that agree well over a wide range of cardiac outputs with those obtained by the indicator dilution and direct Fick methods. Pulmonary capillary blood flow in man was found to be pulsatile during the cardiac cycle, as described by Lee and DuBois. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
