Abstract
The effect of various adrenolytic substances on the in vitro release of catecholamines has been studied. Phentolamine, benzodioxane, dibenamine, and phenoxybenzamine at a concentration of 10−2 M have been found to release the catecholamines and ATP of the isolated ox adrenal chromaffine granules. This release is instantaneous in phentolamine but is progressive for the other substances tested. It has also been shown that equal concentrations of glutathione will partly impair the releasing activity of these substances. Keywords
