Abstract
Presentation of CaseA twenty-one-year-old gravida 0 housewife entered the hospital because of amenorrhea.She had been well until three years previously, when the menses became irregular, with periods of prolonged flow. Thyroid hormone and prednisone were given for two months but were without benefit. Twenty-two months later the menses ceased, and obesity, deepening of the voice and hirsutism developed.Ten months before admission Cytologic examination of vaginal secretions revealed a low estrogen response; the twenty-four-hour urinary excretion of 17-ketosteroids was 22.3 mg. The fasting blood sugar level was normal, and a glucose tolerance test was negative. An intramuscular injection . . .Keywords
