Abstract
The rates of destruction in boiling solns. of Sorensen phosphate, McIlvaine phosphate-citric acid, Kolthoff phos-phate-borate, and succinic acid-borate buffers at pH values ranging from 3.0 to 8.0 showed a linear relationship between the reaction velocity and the pH. The relationship is different for each buffer, but in all cases the velocity of the reaction increases as the pH rises.
